W. B. Yeats – Ireland in Poetry celebrates the remarkable life and literary legacy of William Butler Yeats (1865–1939).

Born in Dublin and deeply connected with County Sligo, Yeats became one of the most influential Irish poets and dramatists of the twentieth century. His writing drew inspiration from Irish legends, folklore, mythology, nature and the changing story of Ireland.

Alongside Lady Gregory, Yeats helped establish the Irish Literary Theatre, which became the Abbey Theatre, playing an important role in Ireland's literary and cultural revival.

His celebrated works include The Lake Isle of Innisfree, The Wild Swans at Coole, The Tower, The Winding Stair and Easter 1916. In 1923, Yeats was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature for poetry that expressed the spirit of a nation.
