Joseph Plunkett was a poet, teacher and revolutionary who became one of the central figures of the 1916 Easter Rising.

Born in Dublin in 1887, Plunkett was deeply passionate about Irish culture, independence and literature. He was one of the seven signatories of the Proclamation of the Irish Republic and played an important role in the planning and leadership of the Rising.
