A Familiar Sight in Irish Homes

For generations, a pair of porcelain dogs sat proudly on the mantelpiece in many Irish homes.

Often known as Staffordshire dogs, they were more than ornaments. They became a familiar part of the home, watching over the hearth, family photographs and treasured keepsakes.

For many, they bring back memories of parents and grandparents, cosy evenings by the fire and the little things that made a house feel like home.
