Step into the mysterious world of the Fairy Host, one of the most enchanting traditions found in Irish folklore.

The Fairy Host is traditionally imagined as a company or gathering of supernatural beings, travelling together through the Irish landscape. In stories, they might be heard or glimpsed at night — moving across hills, roads and fields, accompanied by music, dancing or the sound of distant activity.

Irish folklore sometimes describes these mysterious gatherings as belonging to the Aos Sí, or Good People, connecting them with the Otherworld and with ancient places in the landscape.

To encounter the Fairy Host was not necessarily considered a blessing. Traditional stories often warned people to keep their distance, show respect and avoid interfering with their journey.

Like many Irish legends, accounts of the Fairy Host differ from one storyteller and region to another. They form part of the rich oral tradition through which generations imagined the unseen world existing alongside their own.
