Beyond the fields and along Ireland’s ancient hills lies a world of mystery — the world of the Fae.

In Irish folklore, the Aos Sí, or Good People, are traditionally associated with ancient hills, mounds, fairy forts and other places in the landscape. Stories describe these hidden folk as belonging to an Otherworld existing alongside our own.

The hills themselves became part of the mystery. Certain mounds and ancient places were treated with respect, and generations of storytellers passed down tales of strange music, dancing, lights and mysterious encounters.

The Fae were not always imagined as tiny creatures with wings. Older Irish traditions portray them in many different ways — beautiful, powerful, unpredictable and sometimes dangerous.
