St Brendan the Navigator tells the remarkable story of the Irish monk whose legendary Atlantic voyage became one of the greatest adventures in Celtic tradition.
Born near Fenit, County Kerry in the 5th century, Brendan devoted his life to faith, learning and exploration. Medieval tradition tells how he and a small band of monks crossed the wild Atlantic in a leather currach, encountering mysterious islands, towering seas, whales and the legendary Promised Land of the Saints.

The card also explores the beautiful tradition of St Brendan's grave at Clonfert Cathedral in County Galway. His burial place is marked by a simple ancient stone, where generations have pointed to the mysterious cat paw footprints impressed into its surface. The old Irish saying associated with the grave reads:
“The track of the cat's four paws can be seen on it to this day.”
This cherished piece of folklore has been passed from father to son for generations and remains one of Ireland's most intriguing saintly traditions.
