From the planting of the seed in spring to the cutting and gathering of the corn in late summer, the farming year was shaped by hard work, patience and hope.

The land was prepared, the seed sown and the growing crop watched carefully through the changing seasons. When harvest time came, families and neighbours worked together to cut the corn, gather it into sheaves and build the shocks to dry.

The grain was then threshed and stored carefully to provide food for the family through the year.

This card remembers the traditional work of the Irish farm — where every harvest was a blessing and every pair of hands mattered.

From tiny seed to golden grain, through labour, patience and good rain. The harvest fed the family and gave thanks to the land.
