Celebrated around 1st February, Imbolc was one of the four great seasonal festivals of Celtic Ireland. As winter slowly loosened its grip, the first snowdrops emerged, ewes began to give milk and the growing daylight offered hope for the year ahead.

Imbolc was a time of purification, renewal and gratitude, when sacred fires and candles honoured the returning light and communities prepared for the coming season of growth. The festival celebrated the deep relationship between the people, the land and the ever-turning cycle of nature.

This RareGer heritage card respectfully honours Imbolc as an ancient Irish celebration of spring, long before later Christian traditions became woven into Ireland’s story.
