The Story of Clan Lir – The Children of Lir
Long ago in Ireland lived King Lir, a powerful king and loving father to four children — Fionnuala, Aodh, Fiachra and Conn.
After their mother's death, King Lir married Aoife. Consumed by jealousy of the love between the children and their father, Aoife placed a terrible spell upon them, transforming the four children into swans.
For nine hundred years, the children wandered the lakes and waters of Ireland, enduring storms, seasons and sorrow while longing for their human lives.
Eventually, a Christian monk came upon them and, moved by their story, blessed them. The spell was broken and the children were restored to human form, bringing their long journey to an end.
This beautifully illustrated RareGer card tells a timeless Irish story of love, jealousy, loss, endurance and forgiveness.
A treasured addition to the new RareGer Legends collection, celebrating the ancient stories that have been passed from generation to generation.
The Children of Lir — forever remembered in every ripple of the Irish lakes.
