Gráinne, daughter of the powerful King Cormac, was promised in marriage to the great warrior Fionn mac Cumhaill. But her heart belonged to Diarmuid, one of Fionn's bravest warriors.

Unable to deny their love, Gráinne and Diarmuid fled together, beginning a long journey across Ireland. For years they lived in hiding, travelling through forests, valleys and remote places while Fionn and his warriors followed their trail.

Their story eventually reached a tragic end when Diarmuid was mortally wounded by a wild boar. His death left Gráinne heartbroken, and their tale became one of Ireland's enduring stories of love and loss.
