Fionn mac Cumhaill and the Giant's Causeway – A Legend of Strength and Wit
According to Irish legend, the great warrior Fionn mac Cumhaill once received a challenge from Benandonner, a mighty giant from Scotland.
To reach his challenger, Fionn is said to have built a great causeway of stepping stones across the sea between Ireland and Scotland.
But when Benandonner saw the enormous Fionn approaching, he realised that his opponent was not someone to be taken lightly. Fearing the strength of the Irish giant, he fled back towards Scotland.
The legend tells how the great stones were left behind across the sea, forming what we now know as the Giant's Causeway on the coast of County Antrim.
Whether history or folklore, the story has become one of Ireland's most treasured legends — combining strength, humour, cleverness and the wild imagination of Irish storytelling.
This beautifully illustrated RareGer card celebrates Fionn mac Cumhaill and the legendary story behind one of Ireland's most extraordinary landscapes.
A giant's challenge.A hero's cleverness.And a causeway born from legend.
